The announcement

Toho and GKIDS announced on October 6 that North American tickets are on sale for Godzilla Minus Zero. The film has IMAX early-access screenings on November 3, Godzilla Day, followed by a wide North American theatrical release on November 6 in standard and premium formats.

The companies also unveiled a new IMAX poster. Takashi Yamazaki returns to direct the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, with the story picking up in 1949, two years after the previous film's events.

Why it caught our attention

The poster gives Godzilla the whole frame, while the early-access date falls on the 1954 original's Japanese theatrical anniversary. For fans of creature features, the question is how this sequel builds on the human story around the monster.

What remains unknown

The November 3 and November 6 dates here apply to North America. Screening availability varies by theater; the announcement points readers to ticket listings for current showtimes.
